12岁的Yeezy在芝加哥的小学里，在1990年黑人领袖马丁·路德·金(Martin Luther King)纪念日(1月15日)那天，朗诵名为His Name Means Love诗歌，献给马丁·路德·金。这首诗是Kanye West自己亲笔写的，Yeezy以“My name is Kanye West…”开始…,年轻的Yeezy很早就展现他的才华，成功并非偶然。
