Laquisha Springer, a 21-year-old behavioral neuroscience major at Connecticut College, was able to spend a semester at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen earlier this year after receiving a scholarship from Jigga’s charitable foundation. The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, in collaboration with the U.S. State Department, helped four students travel to various study abroad programs around the world.

While the “Holy Grail” rapper has caught some flack for not participating in social issues (see his tiff with Harry Belafonte), Hov is letting his foundation’s work do all the talking. Since the foundation’s inception, $1.3 million in scholarships have been granted to students.
